Handcraft Homes - Dedicated to GREEN
Since Handcraft Homes was founded we have
always been committed to making homes not only more livable, but also less
costly, in terms of the monthly impact on your wallet, and to our
environment. That's a BIG part of the reason we decided to get into the
building business. So when the green building movement really started to
take off, Handcraft Homes was right out in front.
We are a member of the U.S.
Green Building Council and
Earth Craft Virginia,
and currently one of the only builders with a registered
LEED for Homes project in all of Central Virginia.
What is Green Building?
A sustainable building, or
green building is an outcome of a design which focuses on increasing the efficiency of resource use —
energy, water, and materials — while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment during the building's lifecycle, through better site
locating, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal.
